Member Spotlight

Kate Sefton LoCascio

Tell us about yourself in 2-4 sentences. For example, your profession, how long you’ve been a Soar member, etc. and a fun fact.

I am an Office Manager at Clearwater Equity Group, a small private investment company in St Louis Park. I have been a member of Soar since the inception in 2017. I have loved watching this group come together and am very excited for what’s to come! I live in Plymouth, MN with my husband, 10-month-old daughter and mini Goldendoodle.

Why did you choose to join the Soar Leadership Council?

I have admired CCRF’s work and mission for a long time and have volunteered at many events since I was young. One of my close friends from high school passed away from Osteosarcoma in 2008. I am grateful to be able to make a small dent in the fight against childhood cancer to not only honor him but to hopefully prevent children and their family and friends from having to deal with this horrible disease in the future.

What are you most excited about working on as a Soar Leadership Council Board Member?

I’m really excited about working to support the Emerging Scientists and their wonderful work. Last year we had the opportunity to meet the scientists and listen to a presentation about their work and I left feeling so inspired and knew that Soar was going to be unlike other young professional groups. As a member of the Marketing Committee, I am also very excited for the lineup of events this year to help spread our message and raise money for these wonderful scientists’ work.

What do you wish others knew about Soar? What motivates you to continue to volunteer on the Soar Board? What makes it special?

It is so refreshing to work with other Board members who are equally as passionate about helping our group grow and prosper so that we can one day cure this terrible disease. The staff at CCRF is wonderful to work with and they are so motivated to help our group grow and become better every day. I truly feel heard at our Board meetings and am honored to work alongside our current Board members and look forward to adding more wonderful additions this coming year.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working or volunteering?

I love to cook, spend time with my family and friends, and unwind up at my family’s cabin.
